For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, you might remember that i am the director for my church's youth girls camp- i did it last summer and its already time again for all the planning and prep for this summers camp. Every year we have a pre-camp training meeting in April for all the adult and youth leaders- i actually met with the youth leaders back in October to choose the theme, and they chose "Your Happily Ever After" which was based on a talk by an apostle of our church, you can see President Uchtdorf's talk HERE. Since the theme is a princess theme i decided to make the training meeting a little more formal that normal- i borrowed the table cloths we used for my mom's wedding and i made crown sugar cookies as a favor for everyone that came. I also designed the cameo image that we are going to use on the camp tshirts and other materials. It was such a great event, we had way more people than expected and i think everyone felt more prepared for the week in June that before they came.
Sour Cream Sugar Cookies:
2 cup softened butter (2 sticks)
8 ounces sour cream
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
6 cups flour
Cream the butter, sour cream & sugar together. Add the egg, mix together. Add the salt & vanilla and then the flour. On a well floured surface roll out the dough and cut out with your cookie cutters. I usually leave the dough around 1/4-1/2" thick- so a pretty thick cookie. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.
I bough the crown cookie cutter off Amazon- HERE, and i usually just make up my own icing recipe as i go.
