Simple Centerpieces - Handmade in the Heartland

Simple Centerpieces

Last week i headed our Relief Society's annual service auction. Its such a fun activity and i was happy to make the dessert and decorate the tables. I came up with these super easy pinwheel centerpieces. All you do is buy some 12 x 12 scrapbooking paper, i bought a pack of 50 sheets for $5.00 at walmart, then cut 2 inches of each side so the page is 10 x 10. Then you draw diagonal lines from each corner to the center leaving about 3 inches from the center not drawn. Cut the lines, punch holes in all the left corners and then pull them together into the center with a brad. I used square dowels i also bought at walmart and used hot glue to hold them in place. I think they turned out super cute and SO inexpensive!
For dessert i made my banana peanut butter cream pie as well as pink lemonade pie. SO easy. Here is the recipe

Pink Lemonade Pie
1 graham cracker pie crust
1 8ounce cool whip
1 sweetened condensed milk
1/2 can of frozen pink lemonade

Mix all ingredients together, dump in pie crust, put in fridge to set for a few hours. i topped with some lime slices & zest. Its a perfectly light summer dessert. Thanks to my bestie Jessica who gave me the recipe!
The service auction is such a fun activity. Everyone brings either an item they have made- everything from cupcakes & cookies to handmade headbands and jewelry or a service they are willing to preform- like "babysitting for a date night" or "i'll clean your fridge". When everyone arrives they take a survey that asks questions like Did you pray today- 10 points, have you told someone you loved them today- 10 points. etc. and then the amount of points you get from the survey is the amount you have to bid on the different items. We always have SUCH a fun time doing it! I ended up with delicious cupcakes, a cute necklace, and a few other items as well.
