Tuesday night I had a fabulous night at starlight theater watching the first in their series of traveling broadway shows, The Wizard of Oz! Starlight theater is such a fun and unique venue, just perfect for enjoying wonderful theater on beautiful summer nights. The Wizard of Oz runs through the weekend so if you are free this weekend go get a ticket, it was incredible! I personally loved the costumes, and the music was phenomenal. You can get tickets for as low as $10 each so GO and enjoy a night out! The broadway series is a fun line up and i'm excited to be attending all of them! Next week is We will rock you - a musical featuring the songs of queen, then joseph and the amazing technicolor dream coat, the sound of music and finishing out the series in september is the blue man group.
This show was especially fun because knowing that it would attract families and children starlight created a fun event beforehand called the Yellow Brick Bash. At the top of the theater multiple tables were set up with fun activities that kids could do like color pictures of dorothy, make paper flowers, make macaroni necklaces, get their pictures made with dressed up characters from the play or step up and get their own tornado in a bottle. One of my favorite things of the night was seeing the little girls dressed up as Dorothy or Glenda who were attending the show. The yellow brick bash begins at 6:00 when the doors open so if you're going this weekend make sure to go early for the fun activities.
Did you know that starlight gives tours of the theater before each broadway show? You can arrive early and get a free, behind-the-scenes look at Starlight and learn about Starlight’s rich history in Kansas City. Tours begin before each performance at three convenient times: 6:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Patrons interested in touring Starlight Theatre should report to the top of the theatre behind Terrace Section 1 to begin their facility tours. It was super fun to go backstage and get a glimpse of the action!
I love to do unique things in my city and Starlight is always on my list every summer!
