This metallic DIY Valentine envelope is perfect to have around your home all of February. Use it for a family activity where parents and kids deliver love notes to each other.
I love the month of February, mostly because I get to decorate in pink, which otherwise never happens. 😍 I also enjoy taking the time to encourage my kids to think about the love in our family, and to challenge them to think about and share the ways they love each other. This metallic valentine envelope is the perfect little quick craft to make to encourage everyone in the house to drop little love notes into throughout the month. Hot Glue Gun & Glue
Small Pom Pom
Trim Felt for Heart
3" of 1/8" Elastic
Needle & Thread Iron
Step 1: First print out 4 of the pattern provided on 11×17 paper. Your local office supply store can do that for you. Tape them together so they look like the image of the completed pattern. Lay the pattern on top of your sliver Aluminor™ and cut out with a rotary cutter or scissors.
Step 2: Using a needle & thread sew your button on to the right side of the Aluminor™ on the bottom of the pattern.
Step 3: Next sew the elastic on the back side of the top. You want to fold the elastic in half and then sew it down leaving about 3/4″ in a loop at the top. I pinned it and then sewed it.
Step 4: Fold the sides of your envelope and press with a warm (not hot) iron, using a piece of fabric in between the iron and the Aluminor. After the sides are pressed, press the bottom up and then the top down to create the envelope.
Step 5: Using a hot glue gun, glue the bottom to the sides with a thin line of glue.
Step 6: Add your trim. I chose a small ribbon and small pom pom trim to accent the edges. I glued the end of the ribbon and the pom pom to the inside of the envelope and then continued glueing all the way around the outside edges.
Step 7: I also wanted to hang my envelope so I used a piece of ribbon (about 5″ long) and glued the ends to the back. Last cut a heart out of felt and add that to the center.
