Johnsonville at the Polar Plunge - Handmade in the Heartland

Johnsonville at the Polar Plunge

Johnsonville kicks off grilling season by partnering with the special olympics and sponsoring the Chicago polar plunge! This post is sponsored by Johnsonville, thanks for supporting the brands that support Handmade in the Heartland.
You may remember the world's largest grill in the photo below. Last August I had the opportunity to have some delicious brats fresh from The Big Taste Grill, a 20-foot tall, 65-foot long grill. It cooks 2,500 brats an hour or 750 bratwurst at a time on its 40 square feet of grilling surface. Crazy, right?!

Well The Big Taste Grill was at it again serving the brave people of Chicago who dared to take a dip in the frigid waters of Lake Michigan. The big taste grill has a specific charitable mission and I love that this huge amazing grill travels across the country to help those in need.
Former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher helped Johnsonville grill and serve bratwursts at Sunday’s Chicago Polar Plunge on March 5, 2017, in Chicago. The Plunge is hosted and benefits Special Olympics Chicago, which aligns directly with the charitable mission of the Big Taste Grill. If these extreme plungers are willing to jump in freezing water for a good cause, Johnsonville should be a part of it, as we don’t let weather get in the way of what we love – grilling brats.
The event looks like it was a fun, chilly and festive occasion supporting a great cause!
Have you opened up your grill yet this year? We've had a super strange end of winter- it was almost 75 on my son's birthday in February and we grilled and ate dinner on the deck! Johnsonville is celebrating the start of grilling season with a contest! One grand prize winner will receive lawn care or snow removal for a year!!

I've never done a polar plunge! Have you?! The cold Chicago weather didn’t stop Johnsonville from providing hot brats to the Polar Plunge participants, and you can grill too! Fire it up even if it's cold outside and enjoy some Johnsonville Brats!
