If you are like me you spend at least a few
hours minutes every day browsing blogs and websites looking for new ideas, inspiration and interesting stuff. If you’re not already reading Brit + Co. you totally need to. Its an awesome site that combines diy & tech interests with food and everyday living. You could spend a day just going through the DIY section on the site. Some of my favorite projects are how to turn cork trivets into color-blocked clocks, how to use crayons and make color blocked candles, and this food hack- how to turn ice cream into bread! Brit + Co also have these awesome little boxes called Brit Kits, basically a monthly DIY subscription, every box has a cool new project to complete with all the supplies included. how fun right?! Well i was invited to be a part of the Brit Co-Op, which means that i was sent 11 brit kits and got to host a party with my friends where we all completed the project. My party was last night and it was so fun. We completed the August Brit Kit project which was a paint-splattered travel case made with velcro, vinyl and nail polish. You can see the instructions HERE .
When the kits came in the mail i opened it up and saw that it was a black & gold project so i asked everyone to wear black, white & gold to the party and i decorated with those colors as well. I also used Jackson Pollock as inspiration since the method of decorating the travel cases was splattering. 🙂 I cut out circles as “confetti” for the table decorations and used clothes pins to hold the name tags for each seat. I also used my silhouette machine and cut out those cute little bows, i splattered them with the nail polish and hot glued them to some twine for the banner hanging over my blown-up jackson pollock images behind the table. I had some much fun prepping for the party and then the party was so fun! If you are a budding DIY-er you should def. try out brit kits, they are such a great way to easily try a new project every month.
Here we are getting started and working on our cases…
Splattering nail polish, who would’ve thought?!
Sorry about all the following photos, i just couldn’t help putting in the progression, we might have been having a little too much fun 🙂
I made these gold frosted sugar cookies which were delicious. Check back tomorrow for the recipe and icing tips.
