Happy February - Handmade in the Heartland

Happy February

Happy February friends.  It's been a while, i know.  I was planning on doing a post the beginning of January with my new years goals, and then the plague or should i say multiple plague's entered our house.  We were literally sick for the entire month, it was awful and i'm so glad we are all healthy again. So here's to love month.  One of my goals for 2013 is to celebrate holidays, even small-er ones and i started with Valentines Day.  Since i only had 2 kitchen towels in my valentine decor box i spent my spare time in between fevers and cleaning up puke in January making some really fun decorations.  I started with super simple flower balls.  Seriously they are so easy and cheap- they are made with party streamers!  The tutorial i used is on THIS blog.  I made them in two different colors of pink and in 2 different sizes and then i got really excited and made a wreath (above), which took forever, but i LOVE it.

I also made the canvas with the quote "a true love story never ends", i spray painted it pink, it could use a couple more coats, but it was good enough to put up and lets be honest i was over crafts for a little  while at that point.  My favorite thing by far is my banner. I got a Silhouette Cameo for Christmas and was super excited to break it in, it cut those letters out of fabric perfectly! It really is a pretty amazing machine.  I also decided to have a small dinner party on Valentines Day and it was so fun! I pulled out my wedding china and used the cameo again to make some large heart doilies, i even put my new Cuisinart multi-cooker to use roasting some pork, it works like a dream, thanks Dad and Michelle. :)  Hopefully i'll be updating on a more regular basis from now on, sorry about the neglect blog friends!
