Ok friends the things that can be done with an Oreo cookie are pretty endless, especially around Halloween. Do you remember my zombie Oreos from last week or those fun spiders from last year.  Well today I bring you Oreo vampires.  These guys are probably the most simple Oreo creatures I’ve made because there is no coating involved, just a few tubes of store bought icing and you’ve got some fun cookies to share when your kids get home from school or for a Halloween party.  BTW can you believe that Halloween is in less than 2 weeks. I better get started on our costumes! Speaking of Halloween parties have you tried the different versions of Wheat Thins? I’m totally in love with the honey mustard and they are perfect for serving with dips next Saturday night. 🙂

I knew I wanted to display them as cookie “pops” on sticks so instead of just using cake pop sticks I took the wider size craft sticks (like popsicle sticks) and put washi tape on them.  Anytime I can pull out my washi tape and use it I get so happy. 🙂 I find that the flat sticks stick better into the middle of the Oreo than the circle sticks.

I purchased my fun Halloween Oreos at Walmart, They are in a special display, pictured above, in the center aisle of the store. Obviously they are so cute made into vampires or other creatures but can we just talk about the new designs that come on the cookie in the Halloween package?! They are so cute- you could just pop those babies on washi covered popsicle sticks without any decoration and they will still be adorable.  There will be a special demo in some Walmarts this Saturday the 25th with Oreos, Wheat Thins & Fanta.  You can check THIS list to find the store nearest you.

You only need a few ingredients to make these fun vampire cookies, and all the instructions are pictured in the step by step photos below.  What you’ll need: Halloween Oreos, White Icing, an offset spatula or knife, red and black sparkle gel and a toothpick.
The first step is to take your white icing bag and make the shape of the face, you want a widows peak at the center of the top.  See the photo below.  After squirting out the icing spread it out with an offset spatula, I find it easier to dip the spatula in water before spreading.  Next take your black sparkle gel and make eyes and a mouth.  Place two small dots where the fangs will be, then using a toothpick just pull down those dots to points to make the fangs.  When working with small areas and icing I’ve found that toothpicks work wonders! Last but not least add a little red icing coming out of his mouth.

How easy, right? No additional decorating ingredients besides the tubes of icing and honestly it took me about 20 minutes to pop out 10 of them.  Do you do fun snacks for your kids after school or would these be the treat you take to a party? I’d love to hear your favorite cute food creatures and who eats them in your house.
