White & Aqua Craft Room Tour

Come take a tour through my white and aqua craft room and office space!
How I redid a bedroom to be a craft room
When we moved into our house about a year and half ago I was so thrilled that there was a 5th bedroom in the basement that was 100% mine. We moved into a beautiful home that has all beige trim. Everywhere. It’s not my idea look and because Matt is in dental school right now we aren’t going to be changing anything for the next few years. I did however convince him to help me change one room. My craft room.

Our main floor is one big open floor plan so as you can imagine if I paint the trim (which is a huge project) I want to paint the walls, and cabinets and get new counter tops and well… you see where that’s going. The great thing about re-doing my craft room is that it is just one room. I concluded, in my pitch to re-do this room, that if my favorite room in the house was going to be somewhere it should be where I work, thus encouraging me to work more. I’ve always been a pretty convincing negotiator, just ask my dad.

I always get made at myself for not taking good before pictures. Here’s a snapshot of when we first moved in and I was un-packing! I have a lot of craft stuff…

The first thing we did was rip up the carpet, have you ever had a sewing space on carpet? It’s a nightmare with thread and pins etc. so we ripped out the carpet. We painted the walls and trim white and had new vinyl wood flooring installed from Nebraska Furniture Mart. I am so pleased with how good the laminate wood printed flooring looks! I chose a grey tone to match my white-gray-aqua vision. The pendant light fixtures are from Ikea, They were originally cream and I spray painted them aqua.

We found the white shaker cabinets at Home Depot, they were already assembled in the store-win! We added a countertop from Ikea. The handles on the cabinets are also from Ikea. I was able to purchase a lot from Ikea for this room because I was going with such a simple, clean aesthetic. I love the pops of aqua against the white! The chair and utility cart make me so happy!
All the details for this white and aqua craft room, so inspiring!
I’m a huge fan of open shelving, style all the shelves! These were super simple. We purchased 1″x8″x8′ wood from Home Depot and stained it gray to match the floor. We then used the shelf brackets from Ikea. I love putting pretty craft supplies in mason jars, silver tins and other random containers to display.
On the opposite side of the room is my large craft table. I love a huge table for cutting and painting and doing projects on, it was a necessity for my work space. I still plan on doing a gallery wall above that table with cute pictures in frames, I just haven’t gotten to it yet!

The table legs and fabric baskets under the table are from Ikea. The table top is just a large piece of 1″ plywood with a large piece of cutting mat on top of it. We cut down the 4’x8′ table to be 3’x7′-ish and as you can see it kind of sags in the middle a little bit. If I didn’t really need the space underneath for those fabric baskets I would move the legs closer toward the middle.
How to organize fabric in craft room
I love that I have counter space for my printer, Cricut and computer as well as a large craft table to work projects on. It’s so nice having both work spaces!
